Alder Lake House was built in 1910. There were actually two identical homes built on the 60 acre farm by two Norberg brothers that owned the farm. There was also a very large barn to the right of the remaining house. I was told that dances were held at the barn for local residents to mingle. The Dam was built in 1945 and the Town of Alder that was situated in the valley near the dam was evacuated and flooded.

When I first bought the Alder Lake House it was in a deteriorated condition and only the fallen down remains of the old barn were visible. There were 2 big beautiful Maple trees one directly in front of the current deck and another on the right side of the home. We had a visit from one of the family member of the original inhabitants of the house one day and she said when she was just a child that that tree was huge and her father got mad one day and cut I back almost to the ground. She was amazed to see that it had grown back so huge again. We finally had to cut both of the trees back down because they were rotting and the huge limbs were falling during wind storms.
