Hiking, Biking, Horseback Riding,
Train Rides and Sculptures! Trails just down the street from the house will take you along the lake for quite a distance. Mt. Rainier Paradise Park is just about 15 miles away where you will find endless trails with beautiful scenery Skate Creek Road just past Ashford has lots of marked trails for hiking, biking and horseback, try the High Rock Lookout trail, its short and steep but the view is worth it. Hike at Pack Forest (click here for PDF Map) or the Elbe Hills. There is hiking and biking across the lake from the Lake House but you have to drive to Elbe, cross the bridge heading to Morton and watch for the signs for Pleasant Valley Rd. Go to the end of the road and you will find a gate. Sometimes it is open for auto traffic but mostly it is great biking or hiking. Try EZ Times Horse Rides in Elbe or bring your own horses if you have them, there is a nice horse paddock on the property. View the Alder and La Grande Dams Scrap Metal to Art Sculptures, you will be astounded. Drive past Elbe, keeping to the left. About 2 miles on the right is a wonderful sculpture park.
